dear lazyweb: help me spend my money

So for reasons who’s lameness sadly do not actually negate their truthfulness, I’m probably going to have to suck it up and go to work tomorrow instead of doing the right thing and marching. Yes, I suck and I’m a blazing hypocrite. Sorry.

But if I can’t put my boots on the street, I can at least put my money where my mouth is. So, being a newcomer to this coast and all of this craziness, I put it to my smarter-than-me: which immigrant-right organization puts donations to the best use, and why? Whoever they are, I’ve got $500 for them, and I will match anyone else’s donations up to another $500. My personal biases would be toward legal aid, effective lobbying at the state and national level, and voter registration/GOTV activities.

(In the absence of any clear leader, I’ll drop it on the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and maybe the ACLU Immigrant Rights Project if I can figure out how to earmark donations to the ACLU to a sub-group.)

the mission position

There appears to be a mariachi band practicing outside my window.

I am charmed.

Edit: aha, they are in fact the Mariachi band of the bar across the street:

mariachi!

I remain charmed.

40 days and 40 nights

Oh, I get it. I moved to Seattle, and nobody told me.
